About You

You’ve built something meaningful. A business, a career, a life full of people and purpose. But with all of that, your financial life has become more complex—and more scattered.

You may find yourself asking:

“Is it really worth it?”

“How much is enough?”

“When can I finally slow down?”

You value time more than money. You want to be present for your partner, your kids, health, and your creative interests. You’re seeking clarity and a plan that lets you focus your energy on what matters most.

And most importantly, you're ready to live in a way that feels fully aligned—with your values, your goals, and vision of a life well lived.

If that sounds like you, we might work really well together.

Hi—I’m Bryan Gum.

I’m a CFP®, a Financial Life Planner, and the founder of Lighthouse Planning.

For the last decade, I served clients at a $1B+ planning firm in Kansas City—where I became the youngest Partner in the firm’s history at age 27.

I had the privilege of guiding hundreds of clients through financial decisions both big and small. But somewhere along the way, a quiet voice started asking me if there was something more.

At first, I ignored it. I told myself I had a great role, amazing clients, and good reasons to stay. But the question kept resurfacing:

“What kind of life are you being called to build—for yourself, and for others?"

When my wife Jillian and I began working with our own financial planner trained as a Registered Life Planner® (RLP®), it changed the way I saw this profession. I realized the most powerful financial advice doesn't start with money—it starts with listening.

Through that work with our planner, and my own training and pursuit of becoming an RLP® myself, I finally had the space, time and intention to listen… and that quiet voice became a clear call: it was time to leave, and to build something of my own.

Lighthouse Planning was born from that clarity.

I created this firm to walk with business owners and purpose-driven couples through a different kind of financial life planning—one that’s personal, intentional, and centered on the life they actually want to live.

My Approach

I help clients clarify what matters most, and then build a financial life to support it.

This typically includes:

  • Clarifying your vision of an ideal life using the EVOKE® method

  • Building a cash flow plan that reflects your priorities

  • Optimizing decision making to protect your time

  • Managing investments using an evidence-based approach

  • Minimizing taxes, and thinking holistically about risk and legacy

  • Creating space for rest, creativity, and meaning

Beyond The Work

Outside of planning, you’ll find me spending time with my wife Jillian and our dog, Lando.

I love staying active, so you’ll find me working out or cold-plunging at 2020FIT, playing padel at La Casa del Padel, or diving into a new creative project—editing travel videos, writing music, or working on our  home. I’m a member of Amalfi, a members-only group of athletes, investors and entrepreneurs fueling growth through competition and camaraderie. I care deeply about helping people live into what they’re uniquely called to do. Some of the most talented people I know—artists, musicians, entrepreneurs—have been held back by financial stress or disorganization. I want to change that.

Because when money stops being a burden, it becomes a tool for freedom, creativity, and impact.
